Scott Swift

Scott Swift is a startup veteran. He has experience in for-profit and non-profit work having started his career with World Vision Relief organization. He founded OutsidetheCity.org in 2022. His love for the outdoors began early in life getting out to California & Baja California beaches to body surf, boogie board and surf. This was followed by plenty of hiking and backpacking across the Southwest. He is the proud father of a son with autism and epilepsy.

Darren Porter

Darren Porter

Darren has spent the better part of 3 decades in advertising, marketing, video production, and post-production producing an impressive body of work from sports documentaries to reality TV shows. He is an advocate for using the outdoors as a tool for personal transformation and super connected across the adventure sports industry. An avid surfer and mountain biker, he loves to be able to combine his love of sports and storytelling. Being a mentor is something near and dear to his heart. According to Darren, showing people a new way to live and having it stick is the most rewarding thing to do in life.

Corey Swift

Corey Swift

In his young career, Corey already has experience as a controller for a California-based, $50M privately held company where he holds responsibility for all finance and accounting. As a graduate of the University of Arkansas, a military veteran, and having been deployed to Afghanistan to serve his country, he a strong addition to the OutsidetheCity team He is a seasoned traveler (always on the go), adventurer, hiker and walks five miles a day just to stay in shape.

We’re seeking passionate staff and volunteers to join us on our outdoor adventure outings! If you love the outdoors and want to give back, we’d love to have you on the team.

We’re currently looking for volunteers with experience in the following areas for adventures across Orange, San Diego, and Los Angeles Counties—and beyond:

  • Wilderness Guides – Lead, teach, and inspire participants in rugged outdoor environments
  • Team Builders – Facilitate group dynamics and run outdoor adventure programs
  • Endurance Athletes – Support participants through challenging and exciting activities
  • Seniors – Bring life experience, patience, and mentorship while being part of the adventure
  • Lifeguards – Ensure water safety and enthusiasm during paddle, kayak, and boating activities

Join us in creating life-changing experiences for participants while enjoying the beauty and challenge of the outdoors.
